    The Faculty

    FACULTY COMMUNITY AND PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
    Applied Developmental faculty are actively engaged in speaking to local parents' and school groups and in working with local government task forces.  They have appeared on local televised panel discussions and on local and nationally broadcast radio programs that cover topics of interest to individuals and groups concerned with children's development, and have been interviewed for articles that have been published in national parents' magazines.  On the professional level, Applied Developmental faculty serve as editors and reviewers for several journals and are active in the Developmental Psychology division of the American Psychological Association.  Sources of research support have included the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Science Foundation, and several foundations.

    APPLIED DEVELOPMENTAL FACULTY RESEARCH PROJECTS
    Current projects include:

  • Social-emotional competence measures for school readiness (Denham)
  • Attention, distractability, and meta-attention. (Lehman)
  • Teaching Head Start children cognitive competencies that are fundamental to success in kindergarten (Pasnak)
  • Childcare and school readiness among diverse, low-income, urban preschoolers; Private speech and self-regulation in typical children and those with ADHD or autistic spectrum disorders (Winsler)
