The program provides direct peer support for academic and personal
concerns and indirect support for campus organizations in their efforts
to enhance the retention of Black students through educational, academic,
and social development.
Career
Services - Minority Intership Program (703) 993 - 2370
The Minority Internship program assists African American, Asian American,
Native American and Hispanic American students in finding paid summer
internships related to their fields of study. Although the goal is
to provide summer internship opportunities for minority students,
all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.

The center implements and coordinates reasonable accommodations and
disability-related services that afford equal access to university
programs and activities.
Multicultural
Research & Resource Center (703) 993 - 4003
The Multicultural Research and Resource Center (MRRC) fosters and
coordinates multicultural program development on the GMU campus, identifies
and distributes resources on diversity, provides a clearinghouse for
requests related to multicultural and diversity programs both on and
off campus, and advises students and faculty on the availablility
of programs and training opportunities. The Center is home to George
Mason University's Affiliate Chapter of the National
Coalition Building Institute which provides workshops about intercultural
communications, prejudice reduction, and managing the conflict of
controversial issues. These workshops are designed to build community
understanding among various cultures and are adaptable for use in
classroom, administrative, and professional settings. Through these
workshops faculty, staff and students increase their knowledge and
enhance communication skills, and are trained to facilitate discussions
as peer educators. Facilitators are made available to the university
community to supplement in-class instruction and programming goals.

The Office of Diversity Programs & Services (ODPS) serves students,
cultural organizations, and the Mason community by promoting an environment
that fosters and values human understanding and diversity. To this
end, the office seeks to provide services and programs that will instill
university-wide appreciation for diverse perspectives and ensure equitable
levels of inclusion, participation, and retention of minority students
in their quest for a good, quality education.
Office
of Student Activities (703) 993 - 2909
George Mason University’s 200-plus student organizations provide
a wide variety of activities and programs. Student Activities recognizes
and oversees student-run organizations. The staff advises organizations
through various programs, such as officer training opportunities,
leadership workshops, and student leader roundtables. In addition,
the staff assists student organizations in planning and implementing
programs in a variety of ways, including suggesting contacts, reviewing
contracts, writing budgets, or mediating disputes.
Women’s
Studies Research and Resource Center (703) 993 - 2896
The Women’s Studies Research and Resource Center at George Mason
University provides referrals and resource information to students,
faculty, and staff. Topics covered include women’s health and empowerment,
sexual assault, sexual harassment, feminism, racism, sexism, classism,
and homophobia. In addition to providing a library, the Center hosts
lectures, conferences, and other public events to promote a sense
of community on campus and to raise awareness of women’s issues.
