On October 18, 2019, the Mason Arts Research Center (a National Endowment for the Arts Research Lab) held its first biennial conference to great success! More than 70 attendees including 12 panelists from the worlds of academic research, arts policy, artists and arts organizations, and grant makers met on the George Mason campus for a day of talks, panels, and collaborative activities. Conversations centered around the role of research in arts education and child development and the arts, how different kinds of research can work together to discover new findings on the arts in human development, and what policy makers and practitioners are looking for in arts research. The Mason Arts Research Center is funded through a collaborative agreement with the National Endowment for the Arts Research Labs program, awarded to Dr. Thalia Goldstein, Dr. Adam Winsler, and Dr. Kimberly Sheridan.
